Stainless Steel Expansion Springs
Fitted into the banding so it keeps its grip as the pipe moves - pre-stretched half an inch at installation, with up to two inches of travel in service.
Product Details
A pipe that heats up grows, and banding that was tight when it was cold either slackens or cuts in. Expansion springs take up that movement, holding a steady clamping force through the cycle instead of letting the jacketing work loose.
Grades
- SS 304 - high tensile with good corrosion resistance
- SS 316 - marine grade, with superior chloride resistance
Fit and travel
- Compatible with all common strapping widths up to 19 mm (¾ inch)
- Pre-stretch of ½ inch at installation
- Service expansion up to 2 inches
- A 4-inch spring stretches up to 2½ inches beyond its original length

Because pipes move. Banding tightened cold either slackens or cuts into the insulation once the line heats up; the spring absorbs that movement and holds a steady clamping force.

SS 316, for its superior chloride resistance. SS 304 is the standard choice elsewhere.
