Polyisocyanurate (PIR) Insulation
Rigid closed-cell PIR foam for chilled water, cold storage and cryogenic service - very high compressive strength, and available as high-density inserts where pipe supports bear on the insulation.
PIR is a rigid, closed-cell foam and the workhorse of cold service. The closed cells give it a built-in resistance to moisture, and its compressive strength is high enough that the same material can be supplied as load-bearing inserts at pipe supports - which is where cold systems usually fail first.
