Cellular Glass Insulation
Rigid closed-cell insulation made from crushed glass and carbon - completely impermeable to water and vapour, non-combustible, and dimensionally stable for the life of the plant.
Cellular glass is made from crushed glass and carbon, foamed into a rigid block of sealed cells. Because those cells are glass, the material does not absorb water or water vapour at all - not slowly, not over time. On cold and cryogenic service that puts it in a class of its own, and it will not burn.
