Expanded perlite is a naturally occurring volcanic mineral, bonded here into rigid boards and pipe sections. It handles a remarkable temperature span - the same material insulates industrial furnaces and cryogenic storage tanks - and its water resistance makes it a sound choice where insulation gets wet.
