Calcium Silicate Insulation
A rigid, non-combustible board for hot service where the insulation has to carry load as well as hold heat - power plants, refineries and process equipment above 82 °C.
Calcium silicate is the material to reach for when hot insulation has to take a load. It is rigid, dimensionally stable and non-combustible, which is why it is the standard choice for high-temperature piping, pressure vessels and equipment that people walk on or work against.
Why engineers specify it
- Service to 650 °C (1200 °F)
- Compressive strength of 0.85 MPa or better, so it resists abuse and load
- Passes the ASTM E136 non-combustibility test
- Density of 200 kg/m³ or less
- Dimensionally stable through repeated heating and cooling
- Machines and cuts cleanly to fit
